Hey Breasties!

We’re at the mid-point of the year, and the weather is warming up just in time for the Summer holidays (if you live in the northern hemisphere at least). Whether you plan to stay local this summer or jet overseas, it’s time to choose some key swimwear pieces to enjoy those pool, lake and beach adventures throughout the season.

Balance your Bikini

We know finding bras and swimwear can be challenging when you have one breast larger than the other, but we have a simple solution. Evenly Bra inserts can be worn in the cup of your swimsuit or bikini top on your smaller side. This will balance out both the look and weight of your breast asymmetry, so all you need to worry about is which poolside drink to choose or who’s going to inflate the paddleboard!

We recommend wearing Evenly inserts with a full cup swimsuit or bikini top so that this holds the insert in place whilst moving around in water. Another option is to go for pocketed swimwear, so that your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ can slip inside to be held securely - this is especially useful when enjoying a more vigorous swim or watersports.

Asymmetry-friendly swimwear is out there!

Finding pocketed and full cup swimwear is easy when you know where to look, and we thought it would be useful to share our favourites with you as all the new ranges hit the shops.

Nicola Jane has a range of full swimsuits, tankinis and bikinis to suit all tastes. Both sides of the chest areas are pocketed, so it doesn’t matter which is your smaller side. These special swimwear ranges are usually labelled ‘Pocketed/Mastectomy/Post-surgery’ to indicate that they have inbuilt pockets. Despite the name, don’t worry if your asymmetry isn’t post-surgery related, the pocket will be holding your Evenly insert just the same, it’s just an easy way to identify the specialist nature of the swimwear.

Psst! Get 20% off full-price items, including swimwear and pocketed bras, at nicolajane.com with code EVENLY20 (excludes sale or outlet).

Evenly for breast asymmetry at Bravissimo - fuller bust lingerie brand

Another brilliant brand to check out for breast asymmetry-friendly swimwear is Bravissimo. This gorgeous UK brand specialises in D cup and above lingerie, and each of their swimwear pieces is available in bra cup sizing. The entire range is designed with practicality and comfort in mind, as well as being beautifully designed and available all year round. Bravissimo offers a huge range of styles and also the choice between wired and non-wired cups. You can book an in-person fitting and take along your Evenly insert to pick out the perfect swimwear pieces for you.

Although these are some of our faves, any pocketed swimwear would be effective with an Evenly insert, and remember, if you find a well-fitting full cup piece that you love, the pocket isn’t always necessary, especially if you’ll be doing more sun-bathing than swimming!

Aftercare for your swimwear

When using an Evenly insert, it’s essential to wash it gently after each wear, especially if you’ve been in chlorinated or salt water, as this can cause premature breakdown of the protective outer film. A rinse off with tap or bottled water will suffice until you get home, and then a gentle wash with soapy water and a pat dry is the best way to ensure your Evenly insert stays in tip-top shape. It’s always a good idea to do the same with your swimwear items, as this will help keep them in the best condition and last you for several seasons.

Whilst you’re packing your summer bag, you might want to pick up an Evenly Dusting Powder, which is great for under-boob sweat and also a great moisture-absorbing powder or anti-chafe solution that’s small enough to put in your pocket or beach bag.
