Evenly Bra Balancers™  and Subtle Shapers™ come in three different thicknesses for you to choose from depending on the cup size difference between your two breasts. Within each thickness range there are different sizes to choose from to suit your bra size. All our bra inserts are sold individually to be worn only on your smaller side, in either the left or right bra cup.

Find your perfect Bra Balancer™ size in less than 2 minutes with our Evenly Fit Finder.

  • How do I know what size Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ I need?
The quickest way to find your perfect Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ size is by using our 3 step Evenly Fit Finder. We've also written a blog post all about how to find your perfect size. But in summary, our Bra Balancers™ (including Subtle Shapers™) come in three different thicknesses depending on the cup size difference between your two breasts. To find your perfect fit, choose the bra size which fits your bigger breast best. Then select the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ size that matches the difference on your smaller side. To help you estimate how many cup sizes difference you have a good rule of thumb is 1 cup size = a bra gape of approximately 0.5cm. Once you know which thickness you need, go to that product page to find the sizing chart which will tell you your perfect Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ size based on your bra size. This is based on UK bra sizes so if you wear an international size you may want to use our handy conversion chart. We also have PDF templates within the sizing chart which you can print and place in your bra cup to check sizing. Frustratingly, bra sizing is not standardised across countries, brands or designs and therefore the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ you purchase may not fit as you expected. If that is the case please contact us for fitting tips to try, else we would be happy to provide instructions on how to exchange your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ for a different size, or we can provide a full refund. • What is the Dusting Powder and how do I use it?
Evenly Dusting Powder can be used to help your skin to stay feeling fresh and comfortable whilst wearing your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™. The ultra-fine, smooth natural clay powder absorbs moisture and soothes skin. If you're wearing your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ without a pocketed bra, then dust the powder onto your smaller breast or the inside of your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ to provide all day long comfort. The powder can also be used to prevent rubbing of your bra band or straps or to prevent under-boob clamminess! Our Dusting Powder is free from talc, not tested on animals and suitable for vegans.
  • What are the Bra Balancer™ covers for and how do I use them?
Bra Balancer™ covers provide extra skin protection and softness when wearing your Bra Balancer™ without a special pocketed bra (no one wants to do extra bra shopping if you don't have to, am I right!) Made from fine, eco-friendly Italian Eurojersey Sensitive® fabrics they cover your Bra Balancer™ and provide a soft, moisture-wicking layer next to your skin. Perfect for use next to sensitive post-surgery skin, on hot Summer days or when exercising. Our super-soft covers fit the Bra Balancer™ - Difference of 1-2 Cup Sizes and the Bra Balancer™ - Difference of 2-3 Cup Sizes. To fit, insert the Bra Balancer™ through the opening at the back of the cover, ensuring the majority of gathers are positioned at the base, and adjust to give a smooth profile at the front.
  • Can I wear my Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ swimming?
Absolutely! Our 100% silicone Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ can all be worn in the pool, sea or hot tub. Just be sure to give them a rinse in cool fresh water afterward to remove any salt or chlorine which may degrade the silicone. To ensure your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ stays perfectly in place we recommend wearing them in a swimming costume or bikini top that has proper cups and ideally also has pockets to hold the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™. Many swimsuits already include these pockets or if you're handy with a needle and thread you can add one yourself.
  • I want to order more than one size to try - is it that OK?
Of course! It can be tricky to know exactly what size Bra Balancer™ (or Subtle Shaper™ ) to order so we encourage you to order a couple of different sizes to try. We offer a 30-day no quibble returns policy so you can easily return any that you don't want to keep for a full refund, however please note that returns postage is payable.
  • I have really drastic breast asymmetry, can you help?
Yes! We know a lot of ladies have breast size differences of as much as 3 cup sizes (sometimes called Animomastia) so we designed our Bra Balancers™ in different thicknesses to help. Dealing with breast asymmetry alone can be hard and it can often feel like no-one else understands so if you're struggling please join us over in our friendly, supportive Facebook group, The Uneven Titty Committee™. Our members share their experiences, tips and advice to help each other and just knowing you're not alone can really help. The group is for anyone with breast asymmetry - no matter what the cause. Also have a read of our breast asymmetry blog for loads more helpful information and advice.
  • Are your products suitable for use after breast-conserving or reconstruction surgery?
Yes, many women use our products following cancer surgeries or reconstruction when their breasts are left, or develop and become, uneven. Silicone breast forms are not recommended if your surgery was very recent or if your skin is still healing - in those cases a "softie" is usually recommended. Consult with your doctor if you are unsure. As skin, or scar tissue, can be especially sensitive following surgery you may want to consider using a pocketed bra to hold your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™, or one of our super-soft covers. If you have had a mastectomy without reconstruction then our Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ may not be suitable for you, as they are not designed to replace the entire breast. If you're unsure, please feel free to get in touch.
  • What type of bra do I need?
Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ can be worn in any bra although for best results we recommend wearing them in a well-fitting bra with lightly padded, full coverage cups such as a t-shirt bra (rather than a balconette or plunge cut bra). A large amount of padding such as in push-up bras can mean the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ won't sit correctly. You don't have to use a pocketed bra (sometimes called a mastectomy bra) as your smaller breast will keep the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ securely in place, however you can place it inside the pocket of a bra if you'd like a little extra security that it won't slip out. If you want to go bra-less, you can also stick the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ to your body using specialist prosthetics glue/adhesive. Find more tips on the Best Bras For Breast Asymmetry over on the Balanced Blog.
  • Are your Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ sold singularly or in pairs?
Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are sold singularly as they're designed to only be worn in the bra cup of your smaller breast, to restore balance and symmetry to match your larger breast. You are welcome to order more than one (of the same or different sizes) if you would like to keep one as a spare, or if you want to wear one in each bra cup. Some women like to have a thicker and also slightly thinner option handy to suit their fluctuating boobs throughout their menstrual cycle, or when they're breast-feeding.

Our members share their experiences, tips and advice to help each other and just knowing you're not alone can really help. No woman has perfectly symmetrical breasts, but for some women the level of asymmetry can be drastic - up to multiple cup sizes difference. Many times this is simply the result of natural growth differences, other times the difference can be caused by breast-feeding, hormone medications, weight loss/gain, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, menopause, Poland Syndrome or surgeries (lumpectomies, mastectomies). Uneven breasts can have a number of painful physical and psychological impacts so no matter the cause of your asymmetry, we're here for you.

  • Can Bra Balancers™ be used to give both breasts a boost/push up?
Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are sold singularly as they are intended to be worn only your smaller side to balance out asymmetry. However, we have had customers order 2 of the same size and use them to give both breasts a natural boost. We have also had customers use them to help them to slowly adjust to their new size following a breast reduction or when transitioning genders, so you are free to use Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ how you like!
  • Will someone be able to feel a Bra Balancer™ when they hug me?
We’ve carefully designed our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ using soft silicone that can be squashed and squished just like the real thing, so no one will notice you are wearing one when you hug!
  • Will my Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ fall out of my bra?
If you’re concerned about your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ falling out of place, we’d recommend using them alongside a pocketed bra or bikini/swimwear (sometimes called mastectomy or post-surgery bras). This will keep them nice and snug, so you won’t have to worry when doing activities like swimming or exercising! For pocketed bras, we highly recommend our friends at Royce Lingerie - all of their post-surgery bras have pockets and many of their other styles can have pockets added by them - just request it at checkout! Get 10% off all Royce full-price bras with code EVENLY10. For pocketed swimwear options, check out the great selection at NicolaJane.com.
  • How long will my Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ last?
Your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ should last upwards of 18 months even with frequent use, but it’s important to correctly care for it to get the most wear out of it! Be sure to keep them away from direct heat and sunlight and store them in their pouch when you're not wearing them. If you wear them in a pool or salt water, give them a quick rinse in fresh water afterwards. Do not use the product with body oils, lotions or perfumes. The film surrounding the silicone is very delicate and can be easily snagged so be careful around zips, nails, pet claws and pokey-out bra wires! If the film does begin to break down after some time, you can try surgical tape/lingerie tape/micropore tape/KT tape to seal it - essentially any tape that is designed to be worn on the skin will be safe to use. The silicone inside the Bra Balancer is inert and 100% safe so alternatively if you don't seal it it won't do you any harm, it may just collect dirt which is not ideal.
  • How do I care for my Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™?
We recommend keeping your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ inside the Evenly storage bag (comes with all purchases) when not using them, to keep them safe and sound. We’d also recommend to keep them out of direct sunlight and be careful when handling with a pointy manicure! To clean your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™, wash with a mild soap (such as baby shampoo) and lukewarm water, and gently pat dry. Avoid contact with body oils, perfume and lotions. Make sure you clean them after swimming in chlorinated or salty-sea water.
  • Can they see a Bra Balancer™ in airport security scans?
The answer is yes, they can see a Bra Balancer™ in airport x-ray security scans - but don’t panic! Airport security staff are all too familiar with seeing breast prostheses, with 1 in 8 women having breast cancer, so they shouldn’t ever need to ask you about it. If you are really concerned about it being noticed, you can always carry a small note to say that you are wearing a Bra Balancer™, to discreetly let them know if they ask you about it.
  • Is it safe to fly with a Bra Balancer™ in?
Yes, it is completely safe to fly with a Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™. It may get a few air bubbles that could last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to disappear, but this will not affect the size, shape or function of your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™.
  • How can I become an Evenly stockist?
We have an amazing team of breast asymmetry specialist fitters and stockists and we're always looking for more ways to help spread the word about Evenly! If you’d be interested in stocking our products, please get in touch at hello@evenlybreasts.com - we’d love to hear from you.
  • Is it bad that my breasts are really uneven?
Many women worry that uneven breasts are a sign of something bad such as cancer. Rest assured, breast asymmetry that you have had for some time is not a sign of cancer. The only time to maybe speak to your doctor about your asymmetry is if one of your boobs has suddenly or drastically changed shape or size to the other. Uneven breasts are exceptionally common and we have designed our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ for women who seek solutions for comfort and confidence, to embrace their individuality.
  • Do asymmetric or uneven breasts come from breastfeeding?
Breastfeeding can commonly cause asymmetric or uneven breasts. Breasts are independent of one another and so they will each produce different amounts of milk. Oftentimes, mothers (and babies!) will have a preferred side to feed from and this can also cause one breast to become larger than the other. There are a few things you can try to help even out your breasts including always feeding from the smaller breast first or pumping from the smaller breast to try and encourage increased milk production to match the larger breast. Uneven breasts during pregnancy or breastfeeding are often nothing to worry about but do consult your doctor if you have any concerns.
  • Is it common for a woman to have different sized breasts?
100% yes - and it always has been! A research paper by Dr Maliniak in New York in 1934 stated that ‘perfect symmetry of the breasts is virtually non-existent’ and that careful examination would reveal a difference in the size and shape of each and every woman’s breasts to some degree. Other research studies have gone on to show that upwards of 80% of women have noticeable or significant asymmetry and differences can be as much as 4 cup sizes. Yet because it is a topic so many women feel ashamed to speak about, it gives the impression that it is a rare problem, unique just to you. It also doesn’t help that all bras are built for these non-existent symmetrical boobs. This is why we started Evenly and set up The Uneven Titty Committee on Facebook. We want to #BreakTheTaboob on breast asymmetry and let women know they are most definitely not alone and there is support and products available if you’re seeking to restore your confidence and comfort.
  • Is it normal for one breast to be larger than the other?
Yes! It is entirely normal for one breast to be larger than the other. In fact no two boobs are symmetrical – they are sisters not twins! Despite it being such a common issue it is very rarely spoken about and that is why a huge part of Evenly’s mission is to #BreakTheTaboob on breast asymmetry. It’s worth noting though, if you feel like something is not quite right or if you suddenly notice a dramatic change in what is normal for you, then it’s important to discuss it with a doctor.
  • My right boob is smaller than my left one. Is it a problem?
It is not a ‘problem’ for either boob to be smaller than the other one. In fact no two boobs are the same size – we like to say they are sisters, not twins! Studies have shown that 62% of people with asymmetry have a larger breast on the left hand side, which simply could be attributed to the tissue surrounding your heart. We like to think of these as the people with especially big hearts.
  • Why is one boob bigger?
There can be many reasons why one boob is bigger than the other. All bodies are asymmetrical – no one has two hands exactly the same, or both sides of their face exactly the same, so why should our boobs be any different? Sometimes breasts can be different sizes due to injury or as a result of cancer treatment on one side. Hormonal or weight changes can also affect each breast differently. Whatever the cause, breast asymmetry is extremely common. Just ask the others in our breast asymmetry support group on Facebook – you most definitely are not alone.
  • What can I do to make my breasts more even?
We believe there is nothing you need to ‘do’ to make your breasts more even. That is because you are perfectly, uniquely beautiful the way you are. However there are options such as surgery, if you would like to make your breasts more even. Surgery is a very personal choice and at Evenly we don’t believe the breasts need to be ‘fixed’, we believe it is the bra that does! That is why we have designed a bra specifically to support asymmetric breasts and also why we created our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ to help mainstream symmetrical bras do their jobs properly!
  • Is having one nipple bigger than the other normal?
Yes! It is entirely normal to have one nipple bigger than the other, or one nipple lower down or pointing in a different direction to the other. It is also common to have different sized and shaped areola (the circle of darker skin around each nipple) on each breast. Although uneven nipples are normal, if you have any significant or unusual changes in your nipple size or have any discharge, get in touch with your GP to get it checked out.
  • Can you fix asymmetrical breasts without surgery or special bras?
Evenly has come up with the perfect solution to fix the issues caused by asymmetrical breasts without surgery or special bras. The Bra Balancer™ and the Subtle Shaper™ worn in your bra on your smaller side creates a smooth, natural, even appearance. The perfectly-weighted silicone mimics the weight of the missing natural breast tissue, meaning your bra can hold and distribute the weight of your breasts more evenly - restoring confidence and alleviating discomfort. Clever huh?
  • Is every woman’s right boob bigger than the left boob?
Not every woman’s right boob is bigger than the left boob – sometimes their left boob is bigger than their right. It is a real mix and although it is reported that a slightly higher percentage of women have a bigger breast on their left side (thought to be because of the extra muscle over their heart) it really does vary!
  • Why is my left breast noticeably bigger than my right?
There can be many reasons why one breast may be noticeably bigger than the other. No woman has perfectly symmetrical breasts (or feet, arms, hands, legs for that matter…) but for some, the difference can be significant (called Anisomastia) and have a drastic impact on both their physical and mental health. Some women notice their breast differences from a young age and these may be caused by conditions such as Poland Syndrome, Amastia, Amazia, Juvenile Hypertrophy or Tubular Breasts. Others will start their adult lives with fairly symmetrical breasts and then find one changes more than the other as they get older, possibly due to hormonal changes in their monthly cycle, pregnancy, breast-feeding, menopause, breast tissue trauma or weight changes. It is exceptionally common and usually nothing to be worried about, however if you do notice a sudden change in how your breasts feel or look it is always worth getting it checked by a doctor to rule out malignancy (cancer). If your breast asymmetry (the medical term for uneven breasts) is getting you down, then our Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ can help. They have been designed to bring comfort and confidence to those with breast asymmetry, no matter what it’s cause. Use our Fit Finder now to discover your perfect size.
  • Why does my right breast look bigger than my left breast?
Firstly, uneven breasts are totally normal, and there can be many reasons why your right breast may be noticeably bigger than the left. Our bodies are simply not symmetrical, but for some, the difference between breast sizes can be significant and have a drastic impact on both their physical and mental health. For some, the right breast may start to look bigger than the left at an early age during puberty, which may be caused by conditions such as Poland Syndrome, Amastia, Amazia, Juvenile Hypertrophy or Tubular Breasts. Others will have symmetrical breasts into adulthood, and then find one breast changes more than the other during their lives, possibly due to hormonal changes in their monthly cycle, pregnancy, breast-feeding, menopause, breast tissue trauma or weight changes. Uneven breasts are exceptionally common and usually nothing to be worried about, however if you do notice a sudden change in how your breasts feel or look it is always worth getting it checked by a doctor.
  • Why do I have one breast larger than the other?
We cannot give any medical advice or diagnosis, so we encourage you to visit a breast clinic or speak to a doctor if you have any concerns regarding breast asymmetry. In the mean time, check out our blog post on the causes of breast asymmetry.
  • What's your bra size?
The best way to know your bra size is to get professionally fitted. Bra sizes are a combination of your band size (the number) and your cup size (the letter). Your bra size will change over time so it’s important to keep an eye out to check your bras are still fitting and supporting you well. If you have uneven breasts, we recommend always choosing the bra size that fits your largest breast well and then using our Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ to fill the space on the smaller side to create an even appearance and restore comfort. For professional bra fitting from the comfort of your own home, and help on Bra Balancer sizing, we've partnered with Brarista. Book your online fitting here.
  • How to get rid of bra strap marks?
Many women with uneven breasts have been told by well-meaning mothers and bra fitters to ‘just tighten your bra strap on your smaller side’. Not only can this be really uncomfortable, it can also leave sometimes permanent bra strap marks which are really tricky to get rid of. This is because the strap can dig into the skin and literally traumatise the tissue, causing hyperpigmentation and indentation. The first thing to do is to get a professional bra fitting and find a bra that fits your biggest breast well. The majority of support from your bra should be coming from the band around your ribcage to alleviate pressure on the shoulders via the straps. Don’t over tighten your strap on your smaller side - instead, use one of our Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ to fill the gap in the cup and provide balance. There is no quick fix to remove the bra strap marks that may already be there but after wearing a properly fitted bra they should gradually fade over time.
  • What is meant by ABCD in bra sizes?
Letters such as ABCD refer to the cup size in bra sizes. The number (e.g. 28, 36, 42) refers to the band size, which is the measurement around your ribcage, just underneath your breasts. It is a common misconception that the cup size, i.e. the letter, represents breast size – it actually represents the relative difference between the rib cage (band size) and the bust (cup size). For that reason, when reaching out to us for Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ sizing help or using our Fit Finder, we will always ask for your band size (the number) as well as the cup size (the letter) of the bra you are wearing that fits your biggest breast best.
  • Which is a bigger cup size bra, C or D?
It is actually not possible to say which is the bigger cup size bra, C or D, without first knowing the band size (the number) of the bra. That is because the cup size letter represents the relative difference between the rib cage (band size) and the bust (cup size). When the band measurement is the same number, for example 34C and 34D, cup size D is bigger, because the difference between ribcage and bust is greater. A 34C is actually the exact same cup size as a 32D, because the relative difference between ribcage and bust is the same (these are often called ‘Sister Sizes’) – if you don’t believe us try placing those two cup sizes together next time you’re out bra shopping. Mind blown!
  • What is the difference between breast size and bra size?
Breast size is the volume of your breasts, commonly measured in mL. If you speak to a breast specialist about your breasts they may refer to the difference between your two breasts in terms of the relative difference in mL volume. A bra size is a combination of your band size (the number) and your cup size (the letter) e.g. 36D and represents the relative difference between the rib cage (band size) and the bust (cup size). If you have breast asymmetry, it is always best to use the larger breast as a benchmark and fit bras to fully cover and support the larger breast, then use a Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ on the smaller side to balance things up. Find more tips for bra shopping success when one breast is larger than the other over on our blog.
  • How does a size 32A bra and a 32B bra differ?
A 32A bra and a 32B bra have the same band size (the number) meaning they will fit two different people with the same size rib cage. The cup size (the letter) represents their cup size (breast size) relative to that band size. A 32B will fit someone with larger breasts than the 32A, because the difference between ribcage and bust is larger.
  • Is it bad to wear the wrong bra size? Why?
You may have heard the recent statistics that around 80% of us are wearing the wrong bra size – yikes! In addition to making you uncomfortable (think red marks from underwire pokes, straps digging in, bands rising up) and causing stretch marks, it can also be bad for your health. Wearing an ill-fitting bra can cause posture issues and back, neck and shoulder pain as a result of the bra not adequately supporting the weight of both breasts. We recommend wearing a bra that fits your biggest breast well and then using our Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™ to fill the void on your smaller side. This will restore balance to your bra and help you to feel comfortable and confident.
  • How to hide my nipples poking through a bra?
Many people worry about their nipples poking through their bra – especially in colder temperatures. If you are wearing one of our Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™, that will cover the nipple on your smaller breast and stop it poking through. For your larger breast, silicone nipple covers (or pasties) are easily available to buy online.
  • How to know if your breasts sit in your bra cups right?
You can know if your breasts sit in your bra cups right by checking for a few different signs. The first is that the breast tissue is fully encased within the cup. There should be no bulging at the top of the cups like a ‘muffin top’ or spilling out of the side, under the arm or at the base of the breast. The underwire should follow the natural crease of the breast and not rest on any breast tissue, especially under the arm. Finally, the front of the bra, between the two breasts, should sit flat against the body. The fit should be snug and comfortable, without being too loose or tight. Find more tips for checking your bra fit in this video from the Breast Health Research Group at the University of Portsmouth.
  • What's a full cup bra?
Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ work best in full cup bras. Those are bras which cover the entire breast and provide really great support, fit and comfort for every day wear such as an M&S T-shirt bra. Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ can be worn in other styles of bras such as plunge, balconette or strapless bras however sometimes the low cut of these cups can mean the top of the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ peaks out. If that is the case, we recommend sizing down your Bra Balancer™ to give a smaller footprint, or try placing the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ on its side in the cup.
  • How often should I buy a bra when my chest is growing?
We should all be buying and checking the fit of our bras more often than we do, but it is especially important whilst you are still growing. We recommend always getting your bra professionally fitted and to check the fit and replace bras which are losing their elasticity at least every 6 months.
  • Should I wear a smaller bra size to make my smaller breast look larger?
It is never a good idea to wear a smaller bra size to make your breast(s) look larger. Nor to wear a bigger bra size to make your breast(s) look smaller. It doesn’t work and will leave you with either a huge gape on one side or a ‘muffin top’ on the other! At Evenly we recommend always fitting your bra to your largest breast and then using a Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ to balance out your smaller side. Find more tips for bra shopping with breast asymmetry over on The Balanced Blog.
  • What is the difference between a bra and a bralette?
The main difference between a bra and a bralette is the level of support they each offer. A bralette is less structured than a bra – they’re sort of a halfway point between a crop / vest top and a bra. They generally provide less support than a bra, although some people do find them more comfortable. Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ can be worn in bralettes as well as bras, provided the bralette is tight enough to your body to prevent the Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ from slipping under the cup.
  • What is a padded bra?
There are two types of padded bras – push up and lightly lined bras. Push up bras have the majority of the foam padding in the bottom of the cup and are designed to lift the breasts up and push them together to create visible cleavage. Lightly lined or padded bras, such as t-shirt bras, have the same amount of thin padding all over the cup. This padding and the seamfree moulded cup prevents nipples and the lines of your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ from showing through when you wear tight-fitting clothes such as t-shirts, hence the name. For this reason we love a t-shirt bra at Evenly!
  • Is it essential to wear a bra?
Although it’s certainly not essential to wear a bra (many of us gave that a go during the pandemic!) wearing a well-fitting bra and a Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ can have many benefits to your health and well-being, as well as help your clothes to fit better. By helping your bra support the weight of your chest evenly you can prevent posture issues such as leaning to one side, and potential back, neck and shoulder pain. You can stand tall and feel confident knowing your breasts are well-supported and beautifully balanced.
  • How to wear a backless dress without a bra?
Sometimes we get asked if it’s possible to wear a Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ with a backless dress without a bra and the answer is yes! It is possible to still wear your Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ without a bra by securing it to your body with some strong lingerie tape (also known as cleavage tape, fashion tape, boob tape, dress tape, and our personal favourite - tit tape!) One of our customers recently gave this a test run in the iconic Marilyn Monroe white dress for a costume party and said it gave her the confidence to shine!
  • Which is the best bra company?
At Evenly, there is not one particular bra company that we recommend or work with as Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ have been designed to work in any bra, leaving you free to choose your own favourite.
  • Which bra is good, padded or non-padded?
Both! Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ can be worn in either padded or non-padded bras. Although when it comes to padded bras, they will work better in lightly padded (or foam cup) bras such as t-shirt bras than in push-up bras with lots of padding (usually at the bottom of the cup) designed to enhance cleavage. You may want to consider spacer fabric cups, rather than traditional foam lining (spacer fabric is a uniquely knitted fabric, constructed of 2 layers of thin fabric, joined together with a spacer yarn and designed to create airflow and light padding - a little like ‘memory foam’). These spacer fabric cups hold their rounded shape because they mould to your breast and they also don’t wrinkle if they’re not completely filled. A spacer bra will give you a more visually balanced silhouette. Find more tips on the Best Bras For Breast Asymmetry over on the Balanced Blog.
  • In bra sizes, is 36C bigger than 36D?
A 36C bra and a 36D bra have the same band size (the number) meaning they will fit two different people with the same size rib cage. The cup size (the letter) represents their cup size (breast size) relative to that band size, starting with AA being the smallest and going up the alphabet. Therefore a 36C bra is smaller than a 36D.
  • Does a bra stunt breast growth?
No. There is no evidence to suggest that bras nor underwires stunt breast growth. If you, or someone you love, is concerned about breast development we can highly recommend checking out the excellent bra and breast education resources over on treasureyourchest.org
  • How do I know if I am wearing the wrong bra size?
It’s easy to find yourself wearing the wrong bra size, but we’re here to help! Here’s some tell-tale signs you’re in the wrong bra size: Significant cup gaping or over-spillage A bottom band that can be pulled more than 2 inches (width of two fingers) away from your body, rides up your back or feels too tight and causes pain Digging or slipping straps Your bra is pinching your underarms or creating a ‘double boob’ Any shoulder/neck/back pain- your bra may not be supporting both your breasts properly! If this sounds like you, check out our guide on how to measure yourself, or book a virtual or in-person bra fitting with one of our fabulous stockists!
  • What is nonsurgical breast augmentation?
Non-surgical breast augmentation involves the transfer of fat from elsewhere on your body to your breasts to increase their size by around one cup size. Some clinics will use cosmetic fillers instead of fat, however these will break down over time so will need to be repeated. It is less complex than other types of breast augmentation and may have shorter recovery times (leading it to being dubbed the ‘lunchtime boob job’) however it’s important to remember that it is still a form of surgery and as such it does still carry risks. Very little research has yet been conducted on this type of breast augmentation and so it is important to thoroughly research and consider the potential long-term and permanent risks to your health that this could introduce. Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ offer a safe and non-invasive solution to breast asymmetry with none of the risks, side effects or costs of surgery.
  • How can I know if plastic surgery is right for me?
Plastic (or cosmetic) surgery is an extremely personal choice and not a decision to be taken lightly. All surgery has risks, costs and physical and mental impacts associated with it and these need to be weighed up against the benefits of surgery for you. Talking to your doctor or health professional can help you decide if cosmetic surgery is right for you. If you decide that surgery is not right for you, or whilst you’re on a waiting list, our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are a completely safe and non-surgical alternative to resolve the impacts of breast asymmetry.
  • What is breast enhancement?
Breast enhancement is an alternative term for breast augmentation which is surgery to increase breast size. It usually involves placing breast implants under breast tissue, but can also be done using fat transferred from elsewhere in your body or cosmetic fillers. Women with breast asymmetry may want only their smaller boob to be enhanced and this is called unilateral breast augmentation. All breast surgery comes with risks to be considered and it isn’t right for everyone. If you’d like to try a non-surgical solution, our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are a perfect safe and non-invasive way to give your smaller boob a boost.
  • What is the right age for breast augmentation? Should a teen be able to get a breast augmentation?
Doctors will often only consider performing cosmetic breast surgery on girls who have finished developing through puberty and are at least 18. That is because the breasts continue to grow and develop throughout puberty and therefore the breasts’ size, shape or asymmetry may still change. If you are, or know, someone who is still going through puberty but feels self-conscious about their uneven breasts, then our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are a great option to restore balance to your bra in a safe and non-invasive way whilst your chest continues to develop.
  • Are breast lift and breast augmentation the same?
A breast lift and breast augmentation are both types of breast surgery, however they are not the same. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to lift and reshape the breasts, often to resolve breast sagging which commonly occurs with age. Breast augmentation on the other hand, is a surgical procedure to increase the size of one or both of the breasts using breast implants, fat transfers for cosmetic fillers. Surgeries can be performed on both breasts (bilateral) or on just one breast (unilateral). Unilateral breast surgery is usually the preferred choice for those with uneven breasts, however surgery is a very personal choice that isn’t right for everyone. At Evenly, we don’t believe it is the breasts themselves that need to be ‘fixed’ – they are beautiful and perfect as they are. It is the bra that needs fixing (because they are designed for symmetry) and that is why we developed our range of Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ to restore balance to our bras.
  • What are some reasons why someone shouldn't get a boob job?
Cosmetic breast surgery, or a ‘boob job’, is a very personal choice with risks that need to be weighed up. If you’re considering a boob job to even out your breasts, here are a few reasons why you might want to try our non-surgical Bra Balancer™ and Subtle Shaper™ first. First up, surgery may not actually ‘fix’ your uneven boobs. Even the best surgeon in the world can’t create a perfectly symmetrical pair of breasts and even if they are largely matching to start, over time as your skin ages or the implant moves or you lose or gain weight, each breast may change differently to the other. There are also known health risks to weigh up such as the chance of developing breast implant illness or suffering from the side effects of the surgery anaesthetics. You may also want to rethink surgery if your body is still actively growing and changing. Many people wouldn’t consider surgery if they haven’t yet undergone puberty, but what about menopause, weight loss or gain, pregnancy or breast-feeding. These life events all change your breasts drastically and so your efforts to even out your boobs with surgery may not be as successful as you’d hope.
  • Does a boob job increase the size of the breast?
‘Boob jobs’ can mean any type of breast surgery including breast implants to increase the size of the breast or breasts, a mastoplexy or breast lift to improve sagging, or a breast reduction to reduce the size of the breast or breasts via tissue removal. Boob jobs can be done for therapeutic (or health) reasons or to improve appearance (cosmetic). Surgery is not right for everyone and has serious risks, costs and impacts to be considered. Fortunately, Evenly has developed their Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ as the perfect non-surgical solution to the challenges of breast asymmetry.
  • Why do some women want their breast implants to be removed?
Women want their breast implants removed for many different reasons. Maybe they don’t like the look of their bigger breasts anymore, or maybe their implants have ruptured or moved. Many women worry about the risks about breast implants – the links to cancer and breast implant illness. Some women opt to have their implants removed because they’ve made them look uneven – as we age, lose or gain weight, or our bodies go through changes such as the menopause, pregnancy or breast-feeding our implants can mean our breasts change differently leading to unevenness.
  • How to deal with having your breast fully/partially removed?
If you’ve had your breast fully or partially removed for breast cancer treatment it can be a very upsetting and unsettling time and you may be going through a range of emotions including grief, fear, shock and anger. The most important thing is to give yourself time to adjust. You may also find it helpful to talk to others who have been through the same thing. Our breast asymmetry group on Facebook – The Uneven Titty Committee – has plenty of women who have experienced breast removal and can relate to what you might be going through.
  • What are other solutions instead of having breast implants?
Some people with asymmetry opt for surgery to enhance the size of their smaller breast with the use of breast implants or a fat transfer. Alternatively, the larger breast can be reduced in size to match the smaller one through breast reduction surgery. Evenly offers alternative non-surgical and affordable solutions to the challenges that breast asymmetry can bring, such as back pain and poor self-esteem, without the need to go under the knife. Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are worn in your regular bra to restore confidence and alleviate discomfort, whilst embracing your unique individuality.
  • What are the pros and cons of breast implants?
Internal breast implants can help alleviate the effects of breast asymmetry as different sized inserts can be surgically added to both breasts, or just one breast, to try and restore symmetry. However, breast implants are costly and can also impact your health with the potential to cause breast implant illness. Your breasts can also change over time with weight changes and ageing so even with implants, your breasts are unlikely to remain symmetrical. Evenly exists to offer other solutions to balance your bra without the need for implants or other breast surgeries. Surgery is not without its risks and so if you’re looking for the perfect non-surgical solution, look no further than our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ – worn in your bra on your smaller side to alleviate discomfort and restore confidence.
  • Are breast implants safe?
Modern breast implants are typically safe and horror stories of implants rupturing are thankfully largely a thing of the past, however they do still carry risks. Studies have shown an association between breast implants and an uncommon type of immune system cell cancer. Some women have also reported having other symptoms such as tiredness, anxiety and joint pain (sometimes many years after having implants) which has become known as breast implant illness. Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are a completely safe and non-invasive alternative to resolve the impacts of breast asymmetry, without the need for implants.
  • Is there anything such as breast reduction surgery?
Yes, if you choose to go down the surgical route for your breast asymmetry you may be offered a breast reduction of your larger breast to make it match the size of the smaller breast. This is often preferred by women who already find their breasts large and would like to reduce the amount of weight they carry on their chest. It is also the type of surgery most likely to be offered on the NHS due to the known potential health impacts of breast implants.
  • What are the side effects of breast surgery?
No surgery is without side effects or risks. Common side effects from breast surgery (including enlargement, reduction, reconstruction or breast-conserving) include pain, tenderness or a “tugging” sensation in the breast. Temporary swelling of the breast is also common, which can be caused by fluid and may need to be drained. Hard scar tissue and or a dimple may form at the surgical site and you may experience fatigue, shoulder stiffness and numbness or tingling. Most critically it is important to understand that your breasts are unlikely to be symmetrical even following breast surgery intended for this purpose. Some people can have difficulty coming to terms with how they look after surgery especially if your breasts do not look how you imagined which can lead to anxiety and depression.
  • What are the negative health effects of breast implants?
Many women are left with uneven breasts after having their breast implant(s) removed after learning about the negative health effects of breast implants. Studies have shown an association between breast implants and an uncommon type of immune system cell cancer. Some women have also reported having other symptoms such as tiredness, anxiety and joint pain (sometimes many years after having implants) which has become known as breast implant illness. A type of breast implant (PIP) was also banned in the UK in 2010 after it was found they were prone to rupturing. Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are a completely safe, non-invasive and non-surgical alternative to breast implants to resolve the impacts of breast asymmetry.
  • How to stop being insecure about my boobs?
The first thing to know is that you are definitely not alone. So many of us feel insecure about our boobs – thinking they’re too small, big, droopy, pointy, lumpy, sagging, stretched or uneven. The best thing you can do to lift your confidence and feel less insecure is to reach out to others in the same boat. You’ll realise it’s incredibly common and even people who you think have ‘perfect’ breasts, can find reasons to dislike their boobs. If your uneven boobs are making you feel less than perky then a great place to turn is to our breast asymmetry support group on Facebook – where members of The Uneven Titty Committee community lift each other up and share tips and advice to help each other. As a member of the committee you’ll also get access to a VIP discount code to use on an Evenly Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ to restore balance to your bra or swimwear and give you the confidence to put your best front forward!
  • What are boobs made up of?
Boobs are pretty miraculous when you think about it. They are made up of a mix of breast tissue (also called glandular tissue) and fat, along with nerves, veins, arteries and connective tissue that helps hold everything in place. Breast tissue comprises a network of milk ducts and lobules which produce and carry milk to the nipple when breastfeeding. Contrary to popular belief there are no major muscles in the breasts, so trying to do specific exercises to increase the size of your smaller breast isn’t going to work. Instead, we recommend getting a bra that fits your bigger breast well and using a Bra Balancer™ or Subtle Shaper™ to restore balance and create a naturally even appearance.
  • I have tuberous breasts. Is there anything I should do?
Tuberous breasts (also sometimes called tubular breasts, breast hypoplasia or IGT – Insufficient Glandular Tissue) are, like the name suggests, sometimes like a “tube” and can be shaped like a narrow cone with a small, constricted base and a large nipple and areola. They are often widely spaced and it is very common for one breast to be bigger than the other. Researchers are still learning about what causes tuberous breasts, however they are confident that having tubular breasts is not a direct threat to your health, although it can make breast-feeding more difficult. It can also cause low self-confidence and musculoskeletal issues much like any other cause of breast asymmetry. Surgery, usually using breast tissue expanders or breast implants, is one option to resolve breast asymmetry, however our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ are the perfect non-surgical option to restore confidence and alleviate discomfort.
  • What is the normal breast shape?
There is no ‘normal’ breast shape – there are a wide range of shapes and sizes, all of which are perfectly normal, and no two people have identical looking breasts. Although there are some broad categories of shapes such as teardrop, side set, east west, conical, bell shape or athletic – there is still significant variation amongst these groups. The most important thing is to know is what is ‘normal’ for you and your body and to be aware of sudden changes to your breast shape or size, or unexplained pain or lumps. If that is the case, it is likely nothing to worry about but it is always worth getting it checked out by a doctor.
  • How can we do self examination for breast cancer?
At Evenly, we believe regular boob-checking should be part of your monthly routine and we recommend picking a date each month to remind you and make it a habit – we like to use the first day of the month! You can set up regular reminders for yourself at coppafeel.org. The key to self-examination is first knowing what is normal for you. Get to know how your breasts normally feel, including the changes you normally feel throughout your monthly cycle. If your breasts look or feel suddenly different to normal, or if you notice any changes to your skin such as puckering or changes to your nipples such as their shape or discharge then it’s time to go to your doctor. Find more handy tips on self-examination at coppafeel.org.
  • Can doing chest workouts help a girl's breast size?
No chest workout, diet plan, special bras, creams, supplements or pumps have been clinically proven to make breasts smaller or larger. The best non-surgical solution for evening up your breast size is to use one of our specially designed Bra Balancers™ or Subtle Shapers™. Worn on your smaller side they create a smooth, naturally even appearance. The perfectly-weighted silicone mimics the weight of the missing natural breast tissue, meaning your bra can hold and distribute the weight of your breasts more evenly - restoring confidence and alleviating discomfort. Clever huh?
  • Which muscles do support breasts?
Contrary to popular belief, there are no major muscles in the breasts that provide support to the breast tissue. Instead there are Cooper’s ligaments, tough flexible connective tissues, which do provide some support. These ligaments connect the breast tissue to the chest (pectoral) muscles and help to maintain the shape and structure of your breasts and help to prevent sagging (or to give it its medical name, breast ptosis).
  • What is Poland Syndrome?
Poland Syndrome is a rare congenital condition affecting one side of the body. The most common characteristic is a missing or underdeveloped chest muscle and on this side breast development will be affected, almost always resulting in some degree of asymmetry. Depending on the severity, some women may have underdeveloped or smaller nipples/areolas and concaved or flat chests. In some cases, women won't find our they have Poland Syndrome until they go through puberty and one breast either doesn't develop at all or develops asymmetrically to their other side. There's not enough research on the condition to provide any statistics but it's thought that sometimes Poland Syndrome can also affect breastfeeding, which can exaggerate any pre-existing asymmetry. If you have any questions about Poland Syndrome, please don't hesitate to get in touch with PIP-UK Charity, we work closely with them and they are always happy to help!
  • What is Amastia?
Amastia is a rare congenital (evident at birth) condition where a child’s breast tissue doesn’t develop. This can affect both breasts (bilateral) or just one breast (unilateral).
  • What is Juvenile Hypertrophy?
Juvenile Hypertrophy of the Breast (JHB) is a benign condition where there is alarmingly rapid and continued breast growth during puberty. This can affect both breasts (bilateral) or just one breast (unilateral).
  • What is Amazia?
Amazia refers to a condition where one or both of the mammary glands (breast tissue) is missing but the nipple and surrounding areola are present. This can affect both breasts (bilateral) or just one breast (unilateral).
  • What is a buying guide for choosing a breast prosthesis?
There are many types of breast prostheses or breast forms to choose from that come in many different styles, weights and shapes. If you have undergone cancer surgery you may have a prosthetic nurse who can help you choose. If you are looking for a breast prosthesis or breast form for uneven breasts (rather than to replace an entire breast) then Evenly can help. Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ have been specifically designed for balancing out breast asymmetry. They are worn in the bra cup on the side of your smaller breast and perfectly fill the space between the cup and the breast. They mimic natural breast tissue using weighted silicone to correct any weight imbalance between your breasts and we’ve used clear silicone to ensure they are suitable for all skin tones. Use our Fit Finder to discover the best size for you.
  • How to use 'chicken cutlet' bra inserts?
Before finding Evenly, many of our customers resorted to using ‘chicken cutlet / fillet’ style bra inserts in an attempt to bring balance to their bras. The main drawbacks to this is that ‘chicken cutlet’ inserts are designed to be worn on both sides and lift and press together the boobs to enhance cleavage. They’re shaped like a chicken breast fillet, or cutlet (giving them their name) to make them easy to place under your breast, rather than over the breast, for maximum push up effect. This makes them unsuitable for asymmetry as they would just lift one boob higher than the other (and who wants that?) They also rarely come in different sizes, and one standard size is expected to fit all. Our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ were designed specifically for breast asymmetry and are perfectly sized and weighted to fill the void in your bra cup on your smaller side and restore balance to your bra without leaving you with lopsided cleavage.
  • Do I need a special bra to use silicone breast forms?
Our Evenly Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ can be worn in any bra you already own, as your smaller breast will sit within the deep concave back of the breast form which will keep it snugly in place. However, like any other silicone breast form, you can place it inside the pocket of a bra (or bikini top) if you'd like a little extra security that it won't slip out - it’s entirely your choice as to what you’re comfortable with. For other silicone breast forms, such as a full breast prosthesis you may need to wear a pocketed bra (sometimes called a mastectomy bra).
  • What do silicone boobs feel like? Are they like natural boobs?
The silicone we use in our Evenly Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ is extremely soft and natural feeling. It can be squashed and squeezed and many of our customers have said their partners haven’t been able to tell the difference when they’ve had a cheeky feel! It also moves in a very natural way, unlike many other harder and more rigid breast prosthetics (silicone boobs).
  • Which is better, a bra or boob tape?
Bras or boob tape are both good options for keeping our girls in place. However, our Bra Balancers™ and Subtle Shapers™ do work best in well-fitting bras (the clue is in the name).
